Lent is traditionally a time to reassess and look forward to Easter with hope. Christians have a distinctive understanding of what hope is but it can be difficult to express. This one-evening panel event is an opportunity to reflect on and reconsider Lent. Come alone or with members of your family or Church.

The event will last one hour. We encourage groups to continue the conversation immediately after in their own Zoom meetings, for approximately thirty (30) minutes. We will provide questions to facilitate this. If you would like to participate but are not part of a group please let us know when booking or no later than a week prior to the event. Where possible we may create a Zoom meeting where you can meet with others as the event closes.

In addition to the event, we will provide a resource for groups or individuals to facilitate ongoing reflection over the period of Lent. The resource will feature audio reflections and sets of bible notes with accompanying questions for each week (following 1st Sunday of Lent through to 5th). It is designed to provide material that individuals can use as part of their regular devotions or to facilitate conversations in a home group. The Bible notes have been created by Queen’s tutors and the reflections come from tutors and friends of Queen’s such as Rev Trey Hall and Dr Rosalee Velloso Ewell. A sample of the resource content is available below.

Participants will also be invited to share their responses. We will invite short reflections, voice memos, videos, or self-created art which arise out of engaging with the first few weeks of the course. Some of these will form part of a short reflective montage to be released at the beginning of Holy Week. Details of how to submit contributions will be released shortly after the event and we ask for contributions to be in no later than the 17th of March.

Booking

This event is held in person at the Queen’s Foundation Chapel and live-streamed for those at distance. Tickets are available for a suggested price of £8 to cover some of our costs. Please note that free tickets are also available for those who can not currently afford the suggested contribution.
