The Centre for Black Theology (CBT) was launched on the 1^st December 2018 with the aim to be a centre of excellence in theological education for leaders and members of Black Majority Churches who want progressive and rigorous theology shaped through contextual and liberative lens of Black Theology.

The Centre is directed by Dr Dulcie Dixon McKenzie, and the tutors are Professor Robert Beckford, Dr Valentina Alexander, and Dr Munyurangabo Benda.

The centre has three core activities:

To provide opportunities for high-quality learning. Central to this is our MA programme on a Black Theology pathway.
We are now receiving enquiries for admissions for the next PG Taster course as a preamble to the MA course that will start in September 2023. The programme is innovative and accessible, allowing part-time students to access learning from across the UK. The Taster course is there to encourage a short and accessible experience of beginning theological study at an advanced level. To Apply for the next PG Taster course see here!
To foster theological dialogue amongst members and leaders of Black Majority Churches and with other Black theologians and leaders of other churches.
The Black Theology Forum meets online every month and offers a stimulating and varied programme. For information about the next event see here!
Widening and deepening scholarship and research amongst Black theologians. We have Black members of the academic staff at Queen’s who are qualified to supervise PhD students and a wider team of research scholars. The Centre can offer full and part-time doctoral degrees in partnership with a theology faculty rated in the top 10 in the world.
