Campus-Based Independent Study

Some students prefer to study on campus in a classroom with other students and tutors. Our campus-based pathways allow you to do this.

If you choose this option, you will benefit from sharing classes with a diverse body of students. This may include fellow independent students as well as others from the Centre for Ministerial Formation, the Centre for Black Theology or the Centre for Continuing Ministerial Formation. Classes vary in size with larger groups of up to 30 for core modules and smaller groups with opportunities for more in-depth discussion.

As well as sharing your classes with students on other pathways you will also have full access to the Queen’s library and be able to eat with fellow students and staff in the dining hall on days you have classes. You will be offered the opportunity to join a cell group and attend chapel worship. Cell groups are small groups of students who meet together on their own schedule to share experiences and support each other on the learning journey.

There are two main pathways: daytime (part-time or full-time) and evening and weekends (part-time). To get an idea of what this might look like, click here. It may also be possible to take a ‘blended approach’, completing some modules ‘in person’ and supplement this with online modules.
