Costs of the conference

We have endeavoured to keep the costs of the conference as low as possible. Nevertheless, a small number of subsidised places is available for those with particular financial needs. Applications for such a bursary must be made in writing, by email, to Professor Nicola Slee at sleen@queens.ac.uk, giving full details of the reasons for the bursary.

The costs are as follows:

  • Full attendance on both days, including accommodation and all meals: £91.20
  • Full attendance on both days, excluding accommodation but including all meals: £75.21
  • Full attendance on both days, excluding accommodation and evening meals: £64.55
  • Attendance on Tuesday ONLY as a day delegate (including evening meal): £43.23
  • Attendance on Tuesday ONLY as a day delegate (excluding evening meal): £32.57
  • Attendance on Wednesday ONLY as a day delegate (excluding evening meal): £32.57

Accommodation at Queen’s and in the vicinity

Queen’s has a limited amount of on-site accommodation, around 40 single rooms and a few doubles, mostly en-suite, and a few with shared bathroom facilities. There is limited accommodation for people with special needs, and this will need to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis according to need: please give full details on the booking form if you require such accommodation.

For those travelling from a distance, accommodation may be available on Monday 25th February, either with or without breakfast.
Please contact our hospitality team separately to enquire: hospitality@queens.ac.uk

Alternative accommodation may be available at the University of Birmingham Halls of Residence (https://www.universityrooms.com/en-GB/city/birmingham/home), at the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre (https://www.woodbrooke.org.uk/stay/accommodation-at-woodbrooke/) or at local hotels.

Day delegates

Day delegates are welcome to attend the conference, either on both days or one day only. Priority will be given to those who can commit to the full conference if spaces are limited.

Conference site and travel info

The conference will take place at the Queen’s Foundation, Somerset Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 2QH. Queen’s has a carpark for about 50 cars at the main site and there is additional parking on adjacent roads.  Queen’s is about a 10 minute walk from University station, and there are frequent local trains from New Street (about every 15 minutes, to Redditch and Longbridge, usually from platform 12).

Queen’s is also close to a number of bus routes (see https://www.networkwestmidlands.com/plan-your-journey/ for help with planning journeys to and from Queen’s).

How to book

Booking is via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-faith-lives-of-women-and-girls-2019-tickets-53912751491

Full payment must be made with the booking to secure a place. The conference is limited to a maximum of 75 persons, and we recommend early booking to avoid disappointment.  Please be aware when booking that Queen’s is a theological college first and foremost rather than a conference facility; the standard of meals and accommodation – and the low costs – reflect this reality.

Booking opens on 7th January 2019 and closes on 25th February 2019.
