Admissions process - Anglican

Any enquiries about admission for potential ordinands should go to the Anglican Admissions tutor who will provide information and advice about the next stage. Candidates who have not yet approached their church regarding ordination should speak to their incumbent in the first instance. The incumbent will then in due course put you in touch with the Diocesan Director of Ordinands.

Open days are available throughout the year and provide an opportunity to find out more detailed information and have one-to-one meetings with key staff.

You can attend an Open Day as an enquirer, simply to find out more about what training at Queen's might look like for you; or, if you are already sure that Queen's is the right place for you, you can attend an Open Day as an applicant. If you attend as an applicant, we will ask you to complete an application form giving details of potential ordination sponsorship category, length of training anticipated, whether full-time or part-time, and your educational background. This will help us talk to you in more detail about the programme we can offer you.

After you have made a formal application for a place at Queen's (either before, at or after an Open Day), we will issue an offer letter, conditional upon successful completion of the church sponsorship process. A confirmed final offer will be issued after your Bishop’s Advisory Panel (BAP) has taken place, the bishop has recommended you for training, and the COT (Confirmation of Ordination Training form) has been agreed with your sponsoring diocese. After accepting a place at this stage, all candidates are offered a 14 day cooling off period to withdraw from this contract.

All confirmed candidates will be invited to an appropriate induction at which further registration details will be requested to comply with university and HESA data collection requirements. None of the details requested at this stage will affect the outcome of any offer previously made.
